Bo Staff Drills for Practicing during Covid-19

The bo (six foot staff) is the perfect weapon for practicing martial arts during Covid-19.

It allows us to remain socially distant while working strikes, locks and throws.

The bo (in Japanese) or Jum (in Okinawan) is one of the traditional Okinawan weapons. It is about six foot (1.8 meters) in length. At Full Potential Martial Arts Academy in San Diego, we use wooden bos. The arts of wielding the is called bojutsu.

Bos have been used throughout Asia (and probably the rest of the world) since ancient history. The bo is essentially a long stick!

The bo can be used to strike, slash, and spear. It can also be used to block, lock and throw the opponent.
